Argument [edit]
The game begins with a Link that has lost its memory, and awakens in a mysterious sanctuary, not knowing how or why it has ended there. The only clue about his past will be given a voice that commits him to the mission of ending the evil Calamity Ganon, an evil being that appears since time immemorial and responsible for the cataclysm that ravaged the kingdom of Hyrule long ago. In his adventure, Link will meet Princess Zelda and the royal family of Hyrule, and will discover what really happened 100 years ago.4
Game system [edit]

Nintendo stated that Breath of the Wild will take place in a fully interconnected open world, similar to the first game presented in the series, The Legend of Zelda, and with less emphasis on the entrances and exits of dungeons. The latter, according to Eiji Aonuma, is made so that players have more freedom, which allows them to decide where they are headed and how to get there.5
Users can travel around the world on foot or on horseback, although it is also possible with Epona through Amiibo. Horses use artificial intelligence to evade obvious obstacles, so that the player concentrates on other goals, such as wielding a sword or firing arrows. Link can jump off the horse and visualize his surroundings in slow motion to effectively target his enemies.6
Nintendo stated that the game world, described as the biggest of all Zelda games, is as big as what the hardware supports.7
Development [edit]
On January 23, 2013, during a Nintendo Direct broadcast, Aonuma stated that a new Zelda title was under development for Wii U and that it would challenge some of the series' conventions, such as the order in which players complete the Dungeons.5 At the Nintendo digital event of E3 2014, Aonuma first revealed to the public images of the game, which featured high-definition (HD) graphics and a visual cel shading style, with a release scheduled for 2015.8 Referring to Fig.
On March 27, 2015, Aonuma confirmed in a statement that the game would be delayed claiming:
"[...] our priority is to make the Zelda game more complete"

And adding that the development team looked beyond 2015 in terms of launch.3
For this release, Aonuma has repeatedly reiterated the idea of "rewriting Zelda conventions," 10 11 a concept that originally revolutionized the development of the 2013 video game The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.12 During the week of E3 2014, Aonuma stated in an interview with Kotaku that one of the ways in which he wanted to change Zelda's conventions was to reform dungeons and puzzle solving, 13 two very important elements of the series' game system.14
In the Nintendo Direct of November 13, 2015, was shown a small video of the game after the presentation of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.
Reception [edit]
Prelude [edit]
Before the first public presentation, the video game received positive comments. GameTrailers positioned this Zelda title at number one on their list of the most anticipated games of 2015, citing their freedom of exploration and the new "design philosophy, which reinvents what a Zelda can be while it brings back its roots "15 A week later, a poll by the website revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the second most anticipated title behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
During the E3 video game fair of the year 2016, this Zelda was the main product promoted by Nintendo, counting among other things with a gameplay area in which the press could test for the first time the demo of the game. Also some youtubers could make recordings playing this Zelda and testing its new functionalities, fact that contributed to amplify the media impact of its next launch.
